Since 1956, the broken-rice shop at 114 Võ Thị Sáu has kept one thing unchanged: broken rice eaten with beef stew.

Big-cut beef braised tender; a rich gravy fragrant with ginger, lemongrass, star anise. Ladled over broken rice — strange, and strangely right.
Today
Tân Định's own shop
Diners who grew up on it praise the house-made pork skin and crab farci; some call it pricey, others keep coming back because it suits them. The shop is still there, 11:00–23:00 daily.
