STORY

Three generations, one charcoal grill

A nameless, signless sidewalk com-tam cart — most people just call it the Co Giang com tam. Behind it: three generations of one family, and the "1 ông 2 bà" story that piques every visitor's curiosity.

THREE GENERATIONS

From grandmother to Mr & Mrs Ngoc Thanh

Owner Ms Ngoc Thanh says: three generations selling com tam — her grandmother's, her mother's, and now hers with her husband (per cafebiz). The family's "1 ông 2 bà" story brings curious first-timers; the quality keeps them.

CO BAC → CO GIANG

A forced move, a new home

"We used to sell on Co Bac street; the house was reclaimed so we stopped, then moved to Co Giang about 4–5 years ago" — Ms Ngoc Thanh (cafebiz). Around 5–6pm the cart rolls out across from Dinh Nhon Hoa.

50KG OF MEAT

400+ plates a night

Back when they sold all day, the family went through a hundred kilos of meat; now on the evening shift it's about 50kg a night (cafebiz) — 400+ plates of charcoal-grilled com tam for the stream of customers till midnight.

RED CHARCOAL

Ribs never leave the grill

The ribs are richly marinated and grilled continuously, so there's never a dry, leftover cut (didau.com). Thick, tender, fragrant ribs; the fish sauce leans savory, not sweet — just right.

Dish prices per the mytour.vn guide (Ngoc Bui) and the didau.com 12/2024 review of the shop. The sidewalk spread dishes have no published prices — ask at the shop.
