Hien Vuong's old ledger
Nearly 70 years, three generations, one address: the shop's history in three entries.
A small table in front of Tân Định market
The shop opens for early market-goers, back when the street was called Hiền Vương — one of the earliest street names of the Ngô Đình Diệm era. Long-time regulars still call it by the old name: cơm tấm Hiền Vương.
Three generations, one taste
Founders, then children, then grandchildren: richly marinated grilled pork, bì by the family recipe, chả cua farci in the crab shell in the European 'cua farci' style. Some diners have eaten here since 2000 and say the taste never changed.
The 1956 seal
The napkin is printed in red: 'Cơm Tấm 114 Võ Thị Sáu — Since 1956 — No Branches'. Nearly 70 years on, the shop still has just one address on Võ Thị Sáu — and the bì and chả cua farci plate is still the dish people come for.
